I am a strategic sustainability and governance leader with over 15 years’ experience delivering climate, energy, and social impact programmes across government, academia, and infrastructure. At the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, I led the £261m Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge and the £20bn CCUS Track 2 programme, aligning policy, investment, and delivery across Whitehall and UKRI. I contributed to the UK Hydrogen Strategy and authored Parliamentary Question responses requiring Secretary of State sign-off, distilling complex climate policy into clear, accountable language.
As Head of Environmental Sustainability at Middlesex University, I embedded ISO 14001 Platinum accreditation, authored SDG-aligned reports, and taught environmental modules on topics including Environmental Management Systems and modern slavery governance. I also led the integration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals across the university’s curriculum, working with academic leaders to embed sustainability principles into teaching and learning. Prior to this, I was a geography teacher in both the UK and Malaysia, where I developed a strong foundation in global development, climate justice, and environmental education—skills that continue to inform my strategic and inclusive approach to climate leadership.
I’ve mentored colleagues across government and academia, chaired steering groups, and led wellbeing initiatives—recognising the vital link between wellbeing and climate resilience in organisational culture. I also contribute to the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s sustainability work and am an active member of ACCESS, supporting climate literacy, inclusive governance, and policy dialogue across sectors.
My research focuses on climate governance, Net Zero strategy, and the integration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into institutional practice. I explore the intersection of environmental policy, human rights, and systems thinking—particularly in relation to modern slavery, wellbeing, and climate justice. I’ve led work on industrial decarbonisation, energy procurement, and SDG reporting in both government and academia. I’m also interested in the role of education in sustainability transitions, having embedded the SDGs across the curriculum at Middlesex University.
