Organisation name:

The Young Foundation

About my experience and expertise

Personal statement:

My background is in social psychology and design for social innovation. I conduct participatory research on social justice issues within environmental policy. The aim of my research is to generate knowledge and routes to action towards a just transition to net zero. My work centres the voices of people with lived experience of issues, while engaging stakeholders and policymakers to facilitate systems change and influence the design and delivery of national and local policy. I combine social research methods like peer research, policy co-production and participatory workshops with methods and approaches from design thinking.

Key topic areas of research or interest:

I am interested in all areas of environmental policy that interface with communities. My research uses a place-sensitive, person-centred approach to the transition to net zero, seeking to understand the current or likely impact of environmental policies as experiences by individuals and communities.

I am interested in the potential contributions of different stakeholders towards a greener, fairer future. This includes the role of universities and the community sector in tackling complex challenges, including the transition to net zero.

I am interested in public participation in the transition to net zero and new models of community-led environmental governance.

Collaboration opportunities:

My work is funded by commissions and grants that support knowledge generation and the development of tools and strategies for a just transition to net zero. This includes all areas of environmental policy, with a particular focus on places and communities that are vulnerable or more likely to be made vulnerable by a policy.
I’m also open to working in partnership with institutions and researchers.
