Personal statement:
I am Professor of Environmental Politics and Director of the ESRC-funded Centre for Joined-Up Sustainability Transformations (JUST) at the University of Manchester. My research focuses on relationships between environmental (un)sustainability and social (in)justice, applying insights from intersectional ecofeminist and other critical political theories.
I use qualitative methods and participatory approaches to research, always aiming to do research with people that contributes to eco-social change. I have been an editor of Environmental Politics journal for more than ten years. I am an immigrant to the UK from Canada and have lived here for over 20 years.
Key topic areas of research or interest:
environmental politics, environmental justice, environmental sustainability, gender politics, ecofeminism, green new deal, social reproduction, care work, just transition, diversity and inclusion, ecological citizenship, net zero, community participation, urban politics, critiques of behaviour change, surfacing whiteness in environmentalism, migration-sustainability nexus.
