Personal statement:
I am an interdisciplinary researcher, combining a background in environmental science with more recent research experience in geography, social science and arts & humanities. I lead and contribute to inter- and trans-disciplinary projects which place people at their heart, using a variety of methods and approaches to engage people in the research process including co-creation, citizen science, participatory and creative methods.
I am UKRI Regional Clean Air Champion for Scotland and sit on the Public Engagement working group for the Scottish Government’s Cleaner Air for Scotland 2 air quality policy.
Key topic areas of research or interest:
Air quality, energy and lung health: projects include the AHRC/MRC funded Action for Interdisciplinary air pollution Research (AIR) Network project (https://www.stir.ac.uk/research/hub/contract/349318), the AHRC/MRC funded Fuel2Pot project (From fuel to pot: an interdisciplinary partnership to address the role of solid fuel use in food preparation in the household in Kenya and Malawi) and MRC-funded Tupumue (Non-communicable lung disease in Kenya: from burden and early life determinants to participatory inter-disciplinary solutions) (https://www.stir.ac.uk/research/hub/contract/868124).
