Accredited Community Organiser
Conservation Coach with the Conservation Coaches Network of Europe
I am a conservationist and social researcher with experience in species reintroductions and landscape restoration. I have experience in the Not For Profit sector with UK and international eNGOs working on nature recovery. I now work as a Social Research Fellow for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. My current role involves undertaking social research to understand the social and behavioural change needed to meet the national biodiversity targets for England.
I am an accredited community organiser with the National Academy of Community Organising; I was part of a team developing the use of community organising with the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts.
I am also a Conservation Coach with the Conservation Coaches Network of Europe (CCNet). CCNet is a group of conservation practitioners who use the Conservation Standards to strength conservation efforts in Europe. I led the first organisational adoption of the Conservation Standard in an eNGO working in UK nature recovery.
My current research involves understanding the drivers and barriers of behaviour change to support biodiversity, particularly of landowners.
My overall areas of research and interest include the social elements of nature recovery and conservation. Including the practical delivery of integrating people in conservation. I am particularly interested in species reintroductions – How do we ensure reintroductions are socially feasible, and include the values, voices and needs of people?
