
The DESNZ Public Attitudes Tracker (PAT), previously known as the BEIS Public Attitudes Tracker, measures public awareness, attitudes and behaviours relating to Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) policies such as energy, climate change, consumer rights, artificial intelligence and workers’ rights. The Public Attitudes Tracker is conducted on behalf of HM Government.
About the dataset
This quarterly survey collects data on public awareness, behaviours and attitudes relating to the department’s policy areas, including Net Zero and climate change; Energy infrastructure and energy sources; Heat and energy in the home; and Consumer issues.
Accessing the data
Data from each quarterly wave of the survey is added to the DESNZ Public Attitudes Tracker Survey page and (from Autumn 2021) are divided into topic areas.
Using the data
Data available includes a technical overview report for each wave of the survey, and individual reports for each topic area of the survey (since Autumn 2021). Also available are a copy of the questionnaire and Excel spreadsheets of both time series of responses across multiple waves of the survey and cross-tabulations of responses.
There have been a number of changes to the survey over the years, which are detailed on the main survey page. There was a significant change to the survey and published outputs from Autumn 2021.
