About the dataset
NRW provide an Open Data portal where they continuously publish data to benefit NRW customers, the environment and economy. Access the data resource which contains data, maps and reports here.
Accessing the data
There are two data categories:

- sensitive data
Open data is free data that anyone can view, re-use or re-publish provided that the original source is attributed. NRW make this data available under the Open Government Licence (OGL).
Some data is restricted access due to data protection, legal or other reasons. These data are available under a conditional data licence.
Using the data
The following is available via the NRW Open Data portal:
DataMapWales – a source for public sector data in Wales, providing a shared data platform to members of the public and public authorities. Browse spatial data, view ready-made maps and download data for analysis. Or use the map viewer to combine spatial data layers.
NBN Atlas Wales – ecology data, such as species and habitats for Wales. Use the search tool to find information and spatial data relating to different species and habitats found in Wales.
Map viewers – access to a range of mapped data, such as river levels in Wales. Also includes the flood risk map viewer.
National River Flow Archive – River flow data for the UK, including Wales.
Live data API portal – available API data sets: Flood Risk Forecast, Live Flood Warnings and Alerts, River Levels
Flood data products including flood models – bespoke data provided by NRW on request or raw data is available via DataMapWales.
Reports – search previously published NRW reports including evidence reports, state of natural resources reports, research and data; and research priorities.
Data search tool – use to search the NRW data catalogue and find out if data is open or sensitive
